Women

Ok so my dear best friend Laura informed me of this girl named April, who cosplays. She has had two children, and thus has stretch marks. Comes with the territory. This website has a tendency to take pics and photoshop them to perfection, or at least what they conceive as perfection. They removed her marks, skimmed off any healthy fat she had, and shrunk her boobs. She looked amazing before they did that. In anger and outcry, I wrote a poem about it, and I dedicate it to her, April, a real woman.

Why must women be put into a box?

Why must we remain perfect?

Tired of lies

Why must we not show ourselves?

Why must we hide?

Tired of them

We are more than girls

We are mothers

We are daughters

Tired of it

We love, we cry, we live

We aren't perfect

Sick of hiding

We have stretch marks

We have thighs

We have everything you need

Sick no more

We keep the human race going

We give you sons and daughters

And become your wives

Please

Don't make us hide

We are proud

We are strong

We are loud

We are passionate

Done

We are women
